Dear Parent/Guardian:

 

Our records indicate that your child has requested enrollment in Algebra 1 for the following school year. As a result, your child may want to complete the Palos Verdes Core Math (PVCM) Bridge to Algebra 1 Independent Study Program. The PVCM Bridge to Algebra 1 material is intended to provide support to students currently enrolled in Algebra 1.

 

In order to be prepared for Algebra 1, please consider having your child study and complete the content and assignments listed below. These are six chapters on the following topics: transformations, angles and triangles, graphing and writing linear equations, real numbers and the Pythagorean Theorem, volume and similar solids, and exponents and scientific notation.

 

The program will be utilizing chapters 11-16 from the Big Ideas Math Course 2 Accelerated textbook. The free online textbook does not require a log-on code and may be accessed at:

▪ Under “Easy Access Home Addition” select the green box that says “Go”

▪ Under “Compacted Pathway” select the book titled Big Ideas Math Course 2 Accelerated

▪ Utilizing the “Main” Menu on the left, and the “Go to Page” drop down menu from the top right, you can access the textbook
